Anyone have any experience, opinions, information, or comments on the Fisch lathe?

A friend of mine got one at a show, and two pieces broke on it almost immediately, part of which I'm pretty sure was the tailstock. In any case, the broken parts made it unuseable. Not sure if he has tried to get it replaced or not. I'll ask him.
I've had a Fisch for 8 months now and like it! I got it over the Jet and Delta because of the easier belt change.
The only reason I would not make the same decision today is that I've seen the value of electronic speed control and I would spend the extra money for a variable speed if I were to do it again.
But for what I spent and what it promised, it's been a great lathe!
