"green" (sustainable - not wet) wood

Does anyone know of any sources for wood that is either recycled or from sustainable sources? I may be making a product that requires this type of wood. Are the North American hardwoods considered sustainable? Are any of the exotics farmed?

Trees that are raised on a farm are not the only "sustainable" wood. The large timber companies have been replanting for years. They realized long ago that, if they didn't, they would run out.

Talk to the local city or county tree cutting team - might need to talk to a county commissioner for aid. They prune and cut trees out of parks and streets and it goes to the landfill to grind up into wood chips.

There might be a way to make pickups at the landfill / grinder.

For seasoned wood you might check into a wood salvage or second hand wood.

Many older towns have barns that fall and get salvaged. 100+ year old beams are saved for projects. There are often beam cutoffs there as some might be the size for a small door or window overhead beam.
