For fun I turned a drop finial out of scrap fir lumber and couldn't stop my Jet Mini. Now I have a bucket full of unfinished Christmas ornaments, solid and quite ordinary. I would like to color them red or green with a translucent glossy hard finish. Would a base of dye (Rit?) covered with deft work? Maybe use tinted deft? What kind of dye likes lacquer? Is there a better way?
They ain't art or even keepsakes, but true friends and relatives won't care. Besides, do I always have to do my very best? Never mind, that's for a future musing! Being a happy expert slob, I want a Q&D method for coloring the bucket full of fir finials. TIA for your help.
