Anyone know a cheap source for this stuff?

I cant see spending like 40bux on 9 3x6 sheets of sandpaper.

TIA

Have you ever used it? IMO, its worth it. I generally use it for pens and only wet sand with it. The sheets last a LONG time, if properly used.

Peter, perhaps you could elucidate the "proper usage" of the stuff. I just bought some and don't want to waste it.

Hi Rob: Berea Hardwoods sells micromesh in 4"x3" sheets with a sanding pad for $10.00 There are 9 sheets with grits from 1500 to 12,000.The

1500 is equivalent to 400 grit of regular sandpaper.

You can use them far longer than conventional sandpaper.

If you're going to slurry sand with oil or wax lubrication, why not use pumice or rottenstone?

Like I said, I use it mainly for pens. I will dry sand to 600 grit (using regular sandpaper). Then I wet sand thru all the Micromesh grits at slower speeds (~800 rpm) with plenty of water. I keep dipping the sandpaper in the water and apply it to the work. If I'm building up a slurry on the sand paper, I'm not keeping it wet enough. After each grit, I slosh the paper in the water vigorously to rinse off the slurry, then set it out to dry. I've used this method for dozens of pens and the original Micromesh is still working fine.
