? on Fit of tubes in 7mm PSI kits

Well, I just changed two things at once here, probably not a good idea. I got a new benchtop drill press, and I am starting with some PSI 7mm kits.

My question is... Just how snug should the brass tubes be inside the wood once the holes are drilled? My tubes are not snug at all, but there is no side to side play either. To put it simply, the tubes when dry with no glue will slide right through the wood.

Others I have seen / used required a little bit of pressing.

I suppose I should measure the runout on the drillpress, since that is my concern and I have not done it yet. Thought maybe I could get a good answer here. Thanks.

Ours have always been like that. Handy when CA dries so fast ;-)

Mine slide in with very little effort. If the tube is snug to start and the CA starts to set you've got a problem. Some will drill slightly oversize and then use polyurethane (Gorilla?) glue rather than CA which takes care of any gap.

OK, Thanks guys. I guess I am "normal' then.... ;) I am waiting for the glue to dry, then going to put things up for tonight. Appreciate the feedback, now to see how the glue holds... Thx.
