Has anyone has any experrience with the imported Mini grip chucks sold by packard? The set that comes with 3 sets of jaws for 89 bucks. I'm considreing one of these, as the budget is somewhat strained at the moment. Any imput would be appreciated.

I've seen it in the catalog and it looks similar to the Penn State small chuck. I bought that one for similar reasons a couple years ago. It's too small to make a good boat anchor, and not good for much else either.
Save your money until you can buy a decent scroll chuck. You're about halfway there now, which is better than starting from scratch if you buy this one.

Thanks for the advice. It pretty much confirmed my suspicions. I was taught to buy good quality too. I just hate paying more for a chuck than I did for my old delta lathe itself. . Guess its time to bite the bullet though
