Segmented Bowl Centering Jig

Can someone point me to a jig that would help in centering the rings during glue-up?

Thanks,

Tim

Lloyd Johnson of WoodturnerPro.com has a jig that goes with his Longworth chuck. It may be of help to you.

Ooops, I just checked his site and he's temporarily taken the jig info down...

Well you might want to check periodically anyway or even email him (he's a nice guy):

Been doing this for several years and have never found a jig that was any better than my eyeball. Assuming you have flattened the new ring and receiving ring, dust everything off. bring the new ring up to the other and set it as close to centered as you can -- I usually use the inside edges. Make a mark on the receiving ring about 3/16 - 1/4" from the inner edge of new ring. With the lathe rotating slowly (by hand if necessary) trace this point all the way round with a felt marker. That line is centered so your new ring will also be if the marked line is visible all the way round and equal distances beween it and the new ring are maintained.

When gluing, it helps to let the glue set up before clamping to prevent slipping.

Good luck

Will
