Has anyone used the Perfomax Drum sander or it's little brother, the benchtop sander, for sanding rings on segmented turning? Any problem with snipe? Thinking about purchasing, but thought I would check ahead.

Hi Walter,
I use the Performax 16/32 for leveling rings all the time. It's fast and you can level, glue and stack all the rings at the same time without having to true each ring as you glue-up. I Also use it as a thickness sander for making the pieces for the segments I glue up before they go in the ring. It's a great machine and "dead-on-accurate" for that sort of work. Have never had a problem with sniping. I also make my own veneers with the Performax. You can see some of the work the Performax does at www(dot)beaverpondstudio(dot)com.
Hi Walter, I use a performax 16-32 all the time for segmenting. Works great! I've never had a snipe problem. Very accurate. You will be happy with this machine.
