Instead of doing his own research, Hank dared to ask: "Can a large drop be excepted?" Nope. But he should have looked up 'large drops' for himself. That way he could have kept the rest of this ignorant group from knowing as much about 'large and small drops' as I do. He should have had enough interest and intellectual integrity not to ask for a simple answer on a ng or expect this COC to help him with an answer that might relate to the interests of woodturners ...or teetotallers. Of course the word 'drop' means the same in every usage, including tears, pitching a baseball, cutoffs from a log or a small swig of a single malt. No difference.

IOW, Don't Ask, Don't Tell. Look it up. That way rcw with its improper friendly give and take of info and advice can quietly fade away. We here. believe "help" is a four letter word.

have you ever wondered about those who may be altitude challenged and are obliged to look down for fear of the sky? how should they look it up? Why can't anyone "look it down" and what happened to the age old approach of the skillful sideways glance - what is this world coming to??? these gosh dang young folks are ruining everything......

I am already doing that. The only real difference is that now I apply it to pens first and polish it up all spiffy. ;-)

I make pens one at a time so I'm having a hard time making the difference up on volume ... but I've gotten to where I can make them for less than my cost pretty much as fast as I can sell them.

(Yeah ... that's EXACTLY the way I meant to say it.)

I'm not planning on going anywhere. I subscribe here, on the wreck and (when mood suits) to the abpw group. It gives me something to do while that stupid CA is drying without accelerator.

BTW, I puzzled out my problem of the other day. Humidity. The problem went away when I started blow drying everything (blank and applicator - I use a folded paper towel) between coats.

And I've found out that heat will darken purple heart almost to black.

next purple heart - hold it over HCL (pool acid - muriatic acid - maybe it goes by other names) so the funes get at it, or wipe with strong acid and then rinse. I think you will like the result -

Arch, I beg to differ. A wee drop is a small sip of a single malt (or a blend for that matter). A drop is a drink, not a little sip, taste, smidgin, but a full fledged drink. A large drop is a manly drink. Not for tasters or samplers, but for the hardy, the robust, the eaters of meat and fine cheese, and lovers of women. I think Hank should be commended. He has clearly done his research on an old fashioned experimental basis and not relied on the collation of the results of others or a computer model of different drop sizes.

I think it would he helpful to know the sample size to know whether his results are statistically significant and whether he had a control group.

If he a control group then did they exhibit characteristics of nibbling on a quiche, reluctant to perform a dance over two crossed claymores and never suffer from double vision. (:>) BillR
