Re: Bolting lathe down?

I used old belting from conveyor belts used in a sawmill. They worked great to dampen any vibration. I also use a strip to stand on (concrete floors get kind of cold).

Hi, I recently purchased a Record CL4 & RPLB24-48 lathe stand. I intend > bolting the stand to a concrete floor, should I bolt it straight to the > floor or should I use something as a damper between the floor & the stand > legs? > > gonzo. > > > > > > >

Look in the J & L or Production Machinery catalog and pick up a set of the vibration absorbing pads for mounting machinery (milling machines and the like). "Sorbothane" is one brand name that comes to mind.

If you are not going to do that but want to actually 'do it right', grab (rent) a core drill and drop dector (sp?) bolts into the floor. Bolt the lathe somewhat above the ground (nut below as a spacer, nut above to tighten) to avoid rusting problems caused by contact with the concrete.
