MDF is OK, but the dust and mess, and it is abrasive, so hard on tools.

In addition, the surface is harder than the centre, so if you are laminating layers, you will end up with hard and soft sections, like grain lines in soft timbers, which can make finishing more difficult than it need be.

That said, the stuff can be turned and easily as there is no grain.
