My hand is recovering nicely ... there is only about 1/16" of muscle showing now. Originally, the furrow had been more on the order of 3/8" wide.
I was using a small sanding drum on a flex shaft connected to a miniature grinder to thin out a bowl edge (after accidentally making part of it transparent, I wanted to even things out).
I did the work and things went well but when I turned around to turn the grinder off I found that it had spun around on the lathe bed and was now facing away from me. No problem. I carefully reached over the top of the grinder and began turning the control to slow it down.
Pink spray.
As I rotated the knob, my hand had also rotated ... right into the brand new grinding wheel.
And todays lesson is: "Pay attention or pay the price!"
