I recently was a visitor to Hanson Galleries in Houston at Post Oak Blvd.

I saw a few vases made from wood that were finished on the inside with epoxy. They claimed to be water proof and looked pretty good.

You might want to look into using a thick epoxy applied liberally to the interior surface.
