Steelex chisels

Does anyone have experience with the Steelex brand of chisels? I'm looking at the latest Grizzly catalog and they have the Steelex Plus 6 piece deluxe HSS lathe chisel set (Grizzly part H1064, Steelex part D2304) for $99.95. Any opinions? Thanks.

No experience, but I have heard that the set of HSS chisels that Horror Freight sells is a really good value, and at a third of the price. Can't think of the name. I am contemplating buying a set just to refine my grinding technique and have something to "burn up" on rough turnings. Thirty bucks a set is half the cost of a single Crown Pro-PM tool, which is my "good" set and not something I'll experiment on.

Well, I have been using a set of those HF chisels for a bit, and, I have to say that they are a pretty good deal for the money. They are quite a large step above the cheap sets, for not too much more money. They take a fair edge and keep it decently. Not as good as the top end tools, but, a big step up. Regards Dave mundt
