used books

I have a number of used woodturning books in my own library that I no longer use and was thinking of selling on eBay.

Anyone have any successful experience in this are they would share?

Hi Bob

Why don't you tell us what you have and the price you like to get for them, there might be a lot of interest right here on the rec. I have have never sold any wood turning books, only buy and keep and read and reread them.

I sold a number of books on Amazon. IIRC, you can leave them posted for something like 60 or 90 days. The credit card and shipping fee are all taken care of for you (no Paypal, checks, or money orders) and the buyer has the existing Amazon reviews to read. I have seen a number of books on e-bay and went straight to Amazon where I discovered a cheaper price and cheaper shipping. A few years ago I thinned out my library to the tune of about $1000.00 in my pocket. I was very satisfied. If you have something rare, Amazon is also the place to find out how rare and what the going price is.

I'll also second Leo's comment. Post a list and asking prices here. You might be able to sell all of them here. Less aggravation and no fees. Don't forget the shipping - Media Mail is the cheapest.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll put together a listing and post it. Will also look into Amazon.

Cheapest shipping from Canada to US is Canada Post Small Packet service. roughly $8 US. Unfotunately we don't have anything as reasonable as Medial Mail.
