"Wood Movement Calculator" may be the most important for turners. Init, you can set the name of a wood, the dimensions, the temperature andthe moisture content ...and it will tell you the approximate shrinkageresults.The "Woodworkers Calculator" is also nice. I like pretty wood pictures, so I installed the Screensaver also, but that is pure personal taste...
*IF* you have MS Excell, the "Woodsearch Database" of names might help you identify wood species...but Google might do just as well...(.I am still evaluating whether I will use it much.)
Not all those programs are free, but maybe you will find something useful there.
