1st Knitting Lesson

May 24, 2006 9 Replies

Hi Everyone!

I just had to share with you that my 6 year old son just had his first knitting lesson. He was very patient and caught on quickly. We casted on 10 stitches using worsted weight acrylic and #10 US needles. He completed 3 rows of garter stitch and is very proud of himself.

Who is pretty proud of him too!

And quite right to be proud too, Hesira, that's more than my youngest managed until she was 17, and then she didn't try again until she was 20 and made a nose warmer!! Love & higs Christine

Gandhi started much later.

Woohoo!! Congratulations, Hesira, to both of you.

Hesira, I remember you asking in the Yahoo groups about changing your email address for posting to newsgroups. You can see below how it shows up here. Since you are using Google, I can't help you with altering it but maybe someone else here can.

I know how proud you BOTH are, congratulations! I am sure you remember how very proud I was, of my 11yo pupils who knitted hats too! ;-)

Congrats! It must be such fun to have a child interested in knitting. And you both have good reason to be very proud :)

Yes, BB, I'm glad he wants to learn. He's been pestering me for a while, but I waited until I thought he was ready (patience & motor skills).
