2-inch scarves

Tell me please, how does one wear/use a 2-inch wide scarf? Thanks. I'm new here and this is my first post. Marge

Welcome Marge!

Narrow scarfs are decorative more than practical - wear one like a necklace (or as a belt). If it's long enough you can get around your neck a couple of times to give some protection if the weather turns sour.

Or if it is long enough, loop it in half and run the two ends through the loop you've made. (around your neck, of course) like a "lark's head".

Marge,

VP is right, they are meant to be more decorative but, if you wrap it around the neck twice it can be fairly practical. If I knit one for a person that wants it to be practical, I mean wrapping it around the neck twice I make it 70". Otherwise I make it 60.

They are fast to make and simple. I do not knit the first stitch, I slip it as to knit. On "Super Saver" I use a 9 needle and 8 stithces. On eyelash I usually go one bigger than what they say and figure it out to 2 inches. I thing my daughters 6 stitches my us11 needles. Even on the eye lash I slip the first stitch. By slipping the first stitch you make the edge more firm. I knit every row on both yarns.

I hope the shortcuts below give you an idea on how to wear them.

Hugs & God bless, Dennis & Gail

Marge spun a FINE 'yarn':

Hi, Marge, and first: welcome! They're wearing the 2 to 4 inch wide scarves purely as decorative, unless they're at least 7 feet long, THEN they're folding them in half, loop around neck, pull endls thru loop, sort of a larkspur. They're also just wrapping the scarves loosely many times around the neck, AND they're wearing them like neckties. HTH, Noreen currently making a 4 inch wide 8 foot long per a client request.

The post below mentioned the link at the bottom, and I wondered if anyone has knit with paillettes? I have used beads, but not pailletes.

Anyone got any hints or tips?

thanks...Linda

I have knitted and woven with paillets,,,,, they aren`t easy to knit with , best idea ,, put them on a different thread [ prefferably an embroidery thread with same color as knitting thread and knit them together. mirjam

Thanks for the tip Mirjam. May I ask why it's best to string them on a separate thread? I'm using a fine rayon similar to a #5 perle cotton with #6 seed beads for a bead knit scarf. The beads are strung directly onto the perle cotton. I thought it might be interesting to use the same pattern, but to use the paillettes in place of the beads. I might need to use them more sparingly than the beads since they would take up more room. Were you thinking of using the paillettes with a heavier fiber?

thanks...L>I have knitted and woven with paillets,,,,, they aren`t easy to knit
