Amazing picture!!!

One of my favourite websites to visit is Elann. Right now they are featuring a bunch of patterns for sale. There is one sweater that is SO UGLY I just can't believe it!! Be sure you click to view the picture enlargement.........(btw, I mean the "plaid" sweater the mother is wearing). So, for your edification and enjoyment, I'm enclosing a link...... please feel free to discuss the design merits/demerits (snicker).

Some things don't bear scrutiny before I've had coffee. My eyes!! My eyes!!

Hi there....

.....and they are actually charging a fee for that pattern.....YIKES. It's definitely a sight for sore eyes. Although, imagine the looks...stares...and attention one might get from wearing something like that !

Shelagh, it is not all that bad, I do like the colours, maybe the pattern could be a little different. I am sure there will be someone who loves this sweater.....

It is a matter of taste and one cannot twist, or argue over taste.....it is a personal thing. Lets hear from someone who loves this sweater.....

Els, you are always the diplomat! I'm sure the company publishing the pattern thought someone would like it, and I'd be curious to see how many they've sold. Of course it's a matter of taste (smile) - but it sure isn't my taste. ;>P There were a couple of other sweater patterns that I thought were almost as bad. I'll post links to them in a couple of minutes. ;>D

What makes it so bad is that it's really two ugly sweaters merged into one. Flowers or plaid? Flowers or plaid? I know, lets make both!

However, the little girl's sweater looks really cute!

i don't actually think the sweater is bad, it's the colors! gack! :) but now, imagine that green is a pale blue, leave the zig-zag the darker blue/purple, change the orange bits to the same lighter pink in the roses... there, now isn't that a bit nicer? ;) lee

Giggling, Otto would not agree with you on that one.....however, I have sat with large groups of knitters and weavers, etc, and I am always amazed at the diversity of peoples taste. If you really want to see some horrible patterns, you should have seen the centre pages of the Style section of the Weekend Globe and Mail, about a month ago or so.....These were patterns on mens boxer shorts. They also, for these lovely designs came with a very high, or rather over priced tag.

Els still giggling

I don't care for the colours but I think this sweater could be really interesting and pretty if you substituted textures for colours.....the argyll one too
