Att'n: CAREY

Carey, St. Stanislaus Kostka is a Polish catholic church. Stanislaus is the FULL name for Stanley. Stash, pronounced StOsh/or/StAHsh is the Polish nickname for Stanley, so 'stash' with the a pronounced like the a in apple is... while appropriate for this particular group... NOT what I was going for, LOL! Noreen

I had an 'uncle' Stash... he was actually NOT 'my' Uncle, but Polish families tend to use endearments for extended family... he was actually the brother of my Aunt, who was married to my Uncle, my mother's brother, Paul. Irene was my aunt, her brother was Stash or Stashu. Uncle Stash, and even then, we endeared it even more and called him Uncle Stacks. Guess you had to be Polish, LOL. (I'm Irish and German, too!) Noreen (quite the IRISH name I have)

Another thought, my Uncle John, married to my Aunt Katherine (mother's sister) was called Jashu/Yashu. The poles don't pronounce J's as we do, they pronounce them as Y's. Pronounced YAHshu. It's a pole nickname for John. And Kate was called Kash. Again, NOT KAsh, but KOsh/KAHsh.
