You might want to consider the Beall Buffing System - it is a wax finish that is glossy, but not un-naturally so. It usually takes about 15 minutes per piece to apply.
The steps:
- Prior to parting off, use an oil - Tung, Linseed or Walnut are my preferences.
- Let the piece dry - attain moisture equilibrium - about 2 weeks
- Use the 3 step Beall buffing system a. Rouge b. White Diamond Polish c. Carnuba Wax
- Sell the item (almost) immediately!
To maintain the glossy sheen, use a cotton rag to buff by hand or use a lamb's wool buff pad glued to a spindle on the lathe (spun at ultra high speed) - this works great!
