back from hols and some sad news

Hi All,

had a fantastic time away in Co Durham visiting my long term friend SJ those of you who remember her know who I mean, and I know she sent some of you some pics of us together. LOL

what a fantastic part of the UK she lives in. Wonderful countryside but a wonderful person too. We were made very welcome, and it was lovely to meet someone I've been a cyber friend of so many years....gosh how time flies...lol. She is as fantastic as she sounds bless her.

I did have some sad news whilst I was gone though, my old cat Tigger suffered a massive stroke and had to be put to sleep in the early hours of the 14th, he wasn't anything special to look at, just an old tabby stray that had adopted us 13/14years ago. But I absolutely sobbed, especially as I was miles away from him. My neighbour was brilliant though and stayed with him stroking him to the end, and he loved her and her son, who had to run out as he was so upset about it. So I feel relieved that he was being cuddled and talked to by someone he knew and who loved him too. It's always so sad when this happens and it sort of put a damper on the rest of the holiday for me. But this is part of life but when I came home I found the house really empty without him with us, but know that he is waiting with his sister, Osca, now at Rainbow Bridge.

Other than that we had a great time lovely castles and olde worlde cobbled streets but I'm always glad to be home.

Off to my weaving group this morning, so just thought I'd call in and say I'm back

Welcome to all newcomers happy birthdays anniversaries or condolences to anyone I've missed whilst away.

Cher, glad you had a good trip.

I'm so sorry about Tiger. Those little furballs just wind their way into your heart and stay there whether you want them to or not, and even when you know they're not gonna be with you forever you still think they will.

Hi Kim

you are so right, this is exactly what you think and feel. oh well, onwards, he's left a hole, as did my Osca cat when she went to RB a couple of years ago.

They were both well loved, allowed to do exactly as they wanted, never over handled by this I mean I never allowed the g/children to pull them about or anything, so they had a good life, unlike some poor pets you hear about.

Thnx for your condolences, I did get really upset, and I do miss him, keep looking for him, and when I feed the dogs it is awful then as I don't have the cat to feed. Yesterday I nearly bought some cat food along with the dogs as I always do, that'll pass. It was odd not having to pick up his supplies. I was just as bad when Osca passed as well.

Anyway as I said .. onwards....HIgz Cher

Cher,

It is hard to lose a pet you had for so many years. I was a farm boy and had many dogs and cats.

Our cat "Ghost" just past away recently. She got sick and we took her to the vet, she was paralyzed in the back legs for 2 days. He said there was not hope, it was a very sad time and very hard. Gail and I will be thinking of you.

What a great time it sounds like you had, we are very excited for you.

Hugs & God bless, Dennis & Gail

Hi Dennis and Gail thankyou for your kind words over Mr Tigz, I think I felt somewhat at fault as I wasn't here for him when it happened, but he knows my neighbour as well as us, and would have been happy with her there, and bless her, she stayed cuddling him til the very end, so he didn't go with a stranger or anything, of which I am so glad. She doesnt think he suffered too long either, she'd seen him at half nine when she went back round to let him out again after his evening meal, from 7pm. then at half ten her son went in to let him in again, but he wouldn't come in, and was walking about just fine in the garden, then at 11pm he went round again and found him lying outside the back door, he didn't get up so he lifted him up and brought him inside, and then dashed round to his mum shouting ''come quick, Tigger has hurt himself'' when she saw him, she said she knew at once what was wrong, as her old 16yr old cat had gone exactly the same way. So she got him to the vets by about half midnight, and he was put to sleep around one-ish. He was more frightened than anything she said as he couldn't walk .. The vet said they could keep him heavily sedated but alive til I got home the following week, but she said no, Cher wouldn't want that for him, as he would have to be put to sleep anyway. She was right, I wouldn't want it prolonged just so's I could see him one more time, especially as this was the thurs and I wasn't home til the monday or tuesday..

Still sad though it is, and he has left a hole, at least he isn't suffering and he is out there on Rainbow Bridge with his friends our old cat and yours too.

Ohh I remember my gramps farm, and the cats and kittens there as well as dogs, and my gramps saying once about some ole moggie up on the top of the straw in the barn with her kittens, he said, ''well there has always been a cat and her kitties up there Cher, from when I was a boy, and no doubt there will still be a cat and her kitties up there when your grandchildren are little'' I went back to visit the old place once and blow me, there was still a cat there and her littleones..LOL.

Anyway thnx for your condolences, it is surprising how hard it hits you isn't it? Like you I've had cats and dogs all my life, and I've cried for each and every one of them when they've gone. It feels like the end of the world at first doesn't it?
