Beautiful windy day & crocheting motifs

I love days like this! So very very windy! And warm. I have all the windows open so I can air out all the winter germs. If it starts to storm though I better haul butt to get all the windows closed again.

Anywho...last night, inspired by Aud's praise of Kristen and Kristen's claim that it was "much easier than it looks", I tried to crochet some flower squares. Ah ha....Kristen is humble. My first attempt looked like I just chewed on the yarn for an hour and then pasted it on a square backwards. Yes, the right side of the flower was on the wrong side of the square. My second attempt was much better but far from flawless. Maybe water lilies aren't for me. So I tried a much smaller flower and it came out very nicely! I'm so proud! And the really fun part is the awe my husband shows when he sees what I did. :) Gotta love the praise. He's a talented painter so while he paints I crochet. We're so darn creative in this house.

So while I'm on my motif craze I found a book with animal granny squares. So I'll be crocheting some lions, teddy bears, turtles and stuff this week. Should be cute.

Hi Pamjam,

Are you going to show us a picture of your motif?

I like wind too, but we've had too much of it lately. Not warm enough yet to open any windows, especially when they are saying snow flurries maybe by Friday. We have rain all day here, so send me some of your sunshine please.

Hugs,

Nora

Hi Pam, I can't wait to see some of your motifs. Especially the animal ones :) I love variety in yarn and motifs! There is nothing like a windy day when you can open all the windows and you can smell Spring in the air.......I miss that. It's already getting very HOT here in Florida and my A/C is running during the day. It seems to go from Winter to Summer with no Fall or Spring. Enjoy your day!!

Hi Nora! I'll have to get my husband to take some pics and get them on the internet for me. I don't know how to do that. While I'm at it I'll send Gem one of me for the family photo album!

Oh yuck I hate sun! No sun here today. Just warm wind under a cloudy dark sky. I am a major major sun-a-phobe. I burn in 10 minutes and so does my little boy so we're very careful.

Oh me too! Wait until you see these animals. They are so funny. I haven't made any yet but when I do I'll get the pics up.

Oh yea, I had so much energy just from the "Spring rush"!

Thanks Debbie! I could never live in Florida. Too hot. But I'll be ready for Disney world when my son is a little older! Pamjam

Aww, that's a shame that you and your little boy have problems with the sun. Did you know (I didn't until I read it somewhere) that you get vitamin D from the sun? AND, sunlight also elevates feelings of depression! I've been reading a lot of healthy things lately! ;o)

I don't stay out in the sun as much as I used to, but I do love the sunshine. :o)

My son was VERY blonde as a tiny guy, and would turn a little pink after being outside for a while... but later that night the pink would change to a nice tan colour. My second sister's son was very blonde as a tiny guy too... he really didn't get pink... just browner, and browner, and BROWNER! I don't know if he still tans like that or not, but we were all amazed to see that when he was small.

It's still much too chilly for me to open the windows here yet. I look forward to it though! When it warms up more the first windows to be opened for a couple of hours (until it feels too cool in the house) are the foyer windows, which Casper loves so much. He sits in the foyer in front of the open windows just enjoying the fresh air and being able to be out in the foyer at all (he's surrounded by windows there, and he's a very nosy dog who loves to watch the neighbour kids play as long as they don't come on HIS property... then he tells them off in no uncertain terms). In the summer when the windows are open all the time, and the door to the foyer is open, he spends most of his inside time out there in the foyer... it becomes HIS room. ;o)

:D Thanks, Gem!

Neat. I heard the cases of rickets have gone way up since mom's are trying to keep their kids out of the sun. So I'll let my youngin' get a little more sun this summer.

Wow...I was always envious of people who tan so easily. I always burned then burned some more then turned white again. Ouch.

Don't be jealous, Pamjam. Just remember that a tan means that damage has already been done. Speaking as someone who has had skin cancer, I would advise you to avoid the sun.
