Book destash

Okay, I'm in the process of going through everything that I had to move into my kitchen so the floor installers could do their job and give me nice new wood floors (which I absolutely love but now need to get an appropriate vacuum cleaner for them; sweeping this much area is taking

*way* too much of my knitting time ). I've got a few books that will be leaving my house one way or the other, and I thought I'd offer them to the group. Prices are list price; I'll take any reasonable offer as I just need to clear them out.

Gossamer Webs: The History and Techniques of Orenburg Lace Shawls, by Galina Khmeleva and Carol R. Noble. Softcover. $21.95

The Art of Shetland Lace, by Sarah Don. Softcover. No price on cover, but inside cover is written $26; purchased from Beggars' Lace many years ago.

The Filet Crochet Book, by Chris Rankin. Softcover. This one is showing it's use, with cover coming off. I'll give this one away for postage only.

MinnowKnits, by Jil Eaton. Hardcover. Sleeve is slightly stained from where a kid put something on it. Great patterns for toddlers. $24.95

Country Crochet and Knitted Lace, by Jan Eaton. Hardcover. No price on book.

Kaffe's Classics, by Kaffe Fassett. Hardcover. No price on book. I'd keep this one if I liked doing color knitting, but as I despise color knitting and there's no chance of me even contemplating anything in this book in this lifetime, it's time for it to go.

And one counted cross-stitch book, The Romance of Paula Vaughan. Hardcover. No price on book. Book contains 6 cross-stitch designs plus other projects that go along with the theme of the designs.

Go ahead; make me an offer Addy below.

You got it. I'm in no rush to get rid of them; I just want to get rid of them. Right now they're in a stack by my desk here and are out of the way. I'll set aside Gossamer Webs for you.

Hie thee to thy local janitor supply store and buy either an 18" or a

24" dry mop with removable cotton cover. I bought my 18" one well over twenty years ago (I have always had hardwood floors, no matter where we lived) and I recently retired one of the two original covers and bought a new one. Why two covers? So you have one to use while the other is drying after you washed it. You may also want to try "dust mop oil", but I have never found it that wonderful.

I have a smallish dust mop that I bought years ago that was fine for the small tile entryway, but we did close to 900 square feet in wood; the house is 1638 square feet total, and the rooms we didn't do are the bedrooms - carpet in there is still fine as it doesn't get much traffic, and the stuff in the kids' rooms has been under a protective layer of stuff for years - and the kitchen, which will be done in tile when we decide to do the kitchen. I had forgotten just how big my family and living rooms are, as I had way more furniture and stuff in them before. I do want to get a larger dust mop anyway, just need to get over to Home Depot to get it.

I still want to get a new vacuum to keep the existing carpets in decent-enough shape to keep for another few years, and if said vacuum can do wood floors it's even better

Do you want cash, ersatz cash, or are you open to swaps? Any way you slice it I'd like to dibs this is no one else has.

I'm jealous of your new floors! Stained concrete is low-maintenance but nothing beats hardwood for underfoot feel :D

I'm open to swaps, so whatever you feel it's worth, bring it on! The book is set aside for you.

This stuff is pretty low maintenance. Just have to dust mop or sweep to keep it looking nice, and wipe up spills as soon as they're noticed.

I've never had hardwood floors anywhere, but I've always loved the look and feel of them. I first wanted to do the Pergo thing, but further investigation led to the conclusion that the extra cost of the wood would be well worth it. Also, if we did Pergo we likely would have done it ourselves, and we'd still be working on laying the floor now; the installers had it all done, start to finish, in less than 3 days. The wood gives the place a nicer feeling, too.

Oh, pooh. Family reunion meant I missed out on two really good lace books.
