I don't know if you can get the pattern free but it's in the Patternworks catalog for $5.50 (US dollars). It's probably on their Web site too. It is shown in Koigu KPPPM yarn and absolutely beautiful.

Gem, it's NOT a FREE pattern. You'd have to purchase it. Lots of LYS and online stores have the pattern, IF they carry Koigu yarn. HTH, Noreen

I think it is a KOIGI pattern for KOIGI yarns, Gem, and the blog you saw and the shawls are a result of a "knitting along" which was finished April 15, as far as I understood. Here you can find severeal places to get tha yarn, but I could not find any free pattern there, so I gues you have to order it.

Come to think of it, if I can find the pattern that I had a couple of years ago (before I went offline for a while) for the easy crocheted shawl, I may end up making that one for her as it was very much like the ones Aunt Blanche used to make when we were teens.

Well... I'm pretty sure it was a pattern that I shared here on the newsgroup within the last year that I was still online before going off line for the past couple of years, so that's going back quite a while. If someone does remember it though and wouldn't mind sharing it *back* with me, I'd love to have it again. ;o)

Have you tried searching the newsgroups? I've put in Charlottes web shawl pattern and only found four hits for 2004, but if I leave off the Charlotte I got hits back to 1999. I'm using google.

Material - Any size hook (I used 4.5 mm), and 4 ply knitting worsted yarn.

Directions - Chain 8, join with a slip stitch to make into a ring.

Row 1 - Chain 7, double crochet in ring, chain 3, double crochet in ring, chain 3, triple crochet in ring, turn.

Row 2 - Chain 7, double crochet in first space (in first ring, not in first stitch), chain 3, double crochet in next space, chain 3, double crochet in next (final) space, chain 3, triple crochet in same final space, turn.

Repeat the pattern of row 2 always beginning each row with a chain 7 and double crochet in the first space, *chain 3, double crochet in next space* across, ending with a chain 3, triple crochet in same final space. So you'll have a double crochet, a chain 3, and a triple crochet in the final loop of each row.

Continue in this manner until the shawl is the desired size.

Finishing - Single crochet around the edges of the shawl, or crochet some sort of scalloped edge instead if you prefer.

There you go, I hope you enjoy it. This is the same pattern that my aunt used years ago to make a couple of these shawls for my cousin, but I didn't know how to crochet then. Can't wait to snuggle up in mine this winter.... hehehe I don't believe I said that, and it's hot here again! :o)

Aud!!! *hugs* Thank you so much... that is definitely the one!! By the way (hanging my head in shame)... I never did finish that shawl for myself, I got side-tracked. It's still in a bag somewhere waiting for my return to it. I chose black... but now with shedding time upon us and my white dog leaving his fur (fine as it is) everywhere, I'm not going to even think about working with black for quite a while. ;o)
