DIY Knitty Gritty & other stuff

Howdy,

I have been watching the cable show Knitty Gritty on Do It Yourself Network

and I have enjoyed learning a new technique or two. The host isn't hard to look at either . I wonder how many other men enjoy watching and learning from the perky readhead?

Anyway, the cold weather is here in the Pacific NW and I have pulled out several projects and started working on them. One of my favorite yarn shops in Portland, Oregon has a coffee shop inside with wonderful cakes, cookies, teas and soft comfy chairs and sofas.

A nice place to pass the time and to meet other needlecrafters. Life is good! Yesterday my best friend, who is still uncomfortable with my crocheting/knitting came with me and I think he enjoyed observing the yarn culture. I showed him the swift along with a hat felting project and I think he was impressed. He even drank his coffee in a Martha Stewart coffee cup! I think he is growing!

In the last year, I have left craft yarn for the good stuff as my confidence has grown. What a difference in the finished project along with it just feels good to work with superior yarn! Now if I can just get a second job to pay for it all!

Welcome back, Padishar! I've seen the show, WHEN Direct TV gives us the extra channels as a freeview. DH likes her too, so you're NOT alone, although HE (as a good DH 'should') says *I* should host it as *I'm easy on the eyes* too, lol! Hugs, Noreen

Hi Padishar,

Wow, what a neat place that yarn garden is. If I ever get back to Portland again I will definitely look for it. I do love that area, been there once many years ago and maybe someday will get back out there.

Great to see you back.

Hugs,

Nora

You really like knitty gritty?

I'm thinking about getting a tote bag with the knitsters logo on it:

I also have started quilting and watch simply quilts as well. When my hands get tired of the needles then on to my latest quilting project. I am a sucker for tools and pretty much have them all for quilting as well as crochet/knit.

Edith Eig's accent bothers me some. Same with her insistence on listing prices on everything. Maybe it's the LA thing, but she overinflates the price a TON!

And another thing: Why do knitting shows feel the need to have the magic number of three novice knitters? They don't even have to do anything pertaining to the project, but it seems they have to be there!

------------------ I finally caught an episode of knit one, purl two with Edith. Very impressive and she is obviously very knowledgable. She turns me on with her accent and her needle manipulation...sigh, I am so easy

Interesting you should mention that ? Finnaly they gave `an Item` in the last Friday news ,, about the `new rage` [???] knitting ,, it was a bit stupidly done ,, but in showing a group of learners one had 3 `pupils ` one was a table ful with ladies ,,, anonucer kept saying it was about knitting and asked every shop or teacher he visited to teach him to knit ,,, only they showed hin crochet ??? It wasn`t at all well shown ... Besides the ITEM that knitting is Back They added that it was fashionable [yes ????] to wear your own handknitted sweater because it is unique !!!!! mirjam
