Drawstring for a bag?

I made this marble bag for my daughter

, and will probably end up buying cording for it but was thinking it might even be easy to crochet some drawstrings. Would that just be a chain the length you want, then a row of sc or dc? I have some cotton thread that i think would be durable enough with the denim.

I figured it was that simple, just never crocheted a drawstring before. I've learned my lesson about things looking simple that turn out not to be lol
