FBS Photos!

I finally put up pictures of the shawl on my blog. I have to delete a bunch of photos from the camera, so I can take a picture of it finished. I have the photos of it blocked on there now, with some other WIPs.

Thank you! The pattern was not hard to do, and it went relatively quickly. It was the demands on my time that made it take longer.

Sometimes ago Noreen asked about the favourite kind of shawl. Well, the shawl you made is EXACTLY what I mean for my favourite kind of shawl!

As I've said before, Ranee, you do marvelous work! What yarns did you use for the shawl, sweater, and dress?

I used a rose colored Koigu for the shawl (the pattern called for two strands of laceweight held together, yeah right). The sweater is good old Brown Sheep Naturespun Sport, bought on clearance at a LYS with nothing in mind and the dress is Patons Grace bought at a craft shop for more than I spent on the wool! :)

I made another change to the pattern, as well, I added two repeats of the main pattern before doing the edging. It looked kind of small in the pattern photo, so I went larger right off the bat. If I make it again, I may make it even larger than this, we'll see. The pattern itself was simple, pattern sts on only one side, easily memorized (each row, not the whole pattern, for me), and knit up quickly. Very impressive results for not much work. :)

Thank you! The pattern was in the Fall issue of Interweave Knits, and you can buy it singly from Fiber Trends. :)

Thank you, Laura. We feel lucky to have her as a friend. She is the wife of the priest who married us and baptized our children. She has a heart problem that the doctors cannot figure out right now. We are praying for her and Fr. Bryce. When we first found out about her health, I felt led to get started on this right away. I had planned it for her anyway, when I saw the pattern, as I have been meaning to make something for her for some time, but it seemed urgent. I wanted to give her something soft and beautiful to wrap around her from me, as many prayers went into each stitch.

Just an old floral comforter of ours. My blocking board isn't big enough. I was going to use the upstairs futon, but Elijah was up there playing and I wasn't going to risk it. :) The comforter had just been washed and dried and was still a little damp, so after washing the shawl, blocking it there served to dry both of them.
