Reclaiming yarn?

I have been thinking about frogging a shawl I made last year which I didn't like. It is 85% wool, 15% mohair (Steadfast Fiber's Wonderful Wool). Do I need to do anything special to it after it's frogged in order to get out the kinks in preparation for using it again?

Thanks!

I find that just letting it sit in a ball for a few days helps. You don't really even need to do that .. but it makes knitting go a little better.

It has mohair in it... that's likely to make it really hard to frog. If you do, the usual thing is to make a hank (instead of a ball) and dampen it slightly - hang it in the bathroom during a shower, or something like that - and hang it with a small weight to pull it straight while it dries.

Yes, I'm a little nervous about the mohair but it's an open pattern so hopefully it hasn't gotten too "stuck." Thanks for the advice - that is what I was thinking of doing but wanted some confirmation!

Also, freezing is supposed to help unlock mohair.

Was it a knit pattern or crochet? I'm assuming from your comments it's knit. I did find a handy tip last week had it been crochet.

Regardless, take it slow as you undo it. That helps isolate the errant hair that gets caught, rather than stringing it along for a few more stitches and getting truly stuck.

Yes, it is knit. I just realized though that the yarn has the same fiber composition in the same proportions as Lamb's Pride. I ripped out a huge amount of that just last week and it wasn't too bad. So hopefully it will behave the same way. I am still trying to work up the nerve to do it though :)

_Little_ chest freezers? From the size of some stashes, I would expect walk-in freezers.

=Tamar not saying how big my stash is

Splort! But ... I was 'only' thinking with regards to the reclaimed stuff, not our entire stashes! I'd need a walk-in like we had at the grocery store I worked at, LOL! Noreen
