Felted slippers

I used the pattern Aud shared and made myself a pair of felted slippers from a grey wool. I have not embroidered them yet. They fit me very well following the pattern just as Aud had sent it. I think I will make a pair for my daughter - though hers will have to be slightly shorter. It was fun to do and went quite quickly. I am still fairly new at felting and still find it somewhat amazing to watch them take shape. Judy

I followed the pattern posted by Aud on January 6 - topic was "Here comes the felted slippers" Here is the url

formatting link
just felted mine by throwing them in the washing machine with acouple of towels and checking for size from time to time. I put themon wet when they were done to shape them and then lightly stuffed themwith clean dish towels to help hold the shape while they dried. I wasreally pleased.

I didn't alter the pattern and came out with slippers that fit my US size 8.5 feet very well. It should be easy enough to make them longer or shorter than that.

Thanks again for sharing the pattern. :-) Maybe I should make some for DH and decorate them with his favorite team colors instead of flowers. He always has cold feet! I think I could just make them a touch wider and longer and they would fit as his feet are fairly small for a man.

My SIL made some for my DM and she puts them in the microwave before putting them on her feet when she's REALLY cold.

I made a pair of felted slippers from my Beverly Galeskas book- they're a little wide for me, so I'm going to check out Aud's pattern- BUT- as a warning..... I wiped out on the hardwood floor of a friends house in them, and bruised my tailbone- I wasn't even running! So try to put something on the bottom of them if you have hardwood floors!

Hello Dianna, you can easely solve that by using some rubber puff material, that you can apply underneath your slippers and make them skid prove.

I used a product called "Slip Stop", sold in rolls at Wal-Mart - quite inexpensive. 12" wide by 12 feet long. You can also get similar stuff as place mats. If you get the Slip Stop, I would double it on the bottom of your slippers. It will last longer.
