Hi, If you are referring to the "free yarn" from Newton's, I received my box. It was all quite fine, none more than fingering weight, some threadlike, and would need to be combined for sweater knitting, though might be good for machine knitting lacy things. It was mostly acrylic, some cotton and the colors were unexciting. Two pastel cones were quite soiled. Rather a dissappointment.

If you mean 1 skein of free yarn from Bernat (Disco), I have not received it yet.

Hello Posey, I was surprised too to learn of free yarn from this place Newton's. Is it still available? I see that you weren't too thrilled with your results. I wonder if it is all like that? Who wants to get dirty yarn?! Fairwinner

Hello, The yarn is free, but you have to pay $1.25 per pound postage and there is a

20 lb minimum, so it is a $25 investment. They take Paypal, which is best because otherwise you have to email your credit card number. It is a by email only sale, no phone or mail orders. I think they may be down to the end as others have been pleased with the yarn they received. What I got was a cone of light weight orange nubby yarn, a cone of pastel nubby yarn (can be used with the orange), a cone of shiney white fingering weight, a cone of blue and white thiiiiin yarn and another of white, very thin, black thin and navy blue about 2/17 yarn. All useable, but as I said, some dirty on the outside and tops of the cones. All seem more appropriate for machine knitting than hand knitting unless you do a lot of lace knitting. I plan to use most of mine for machine knit baby garments. Also, most are not labeled as to the fiber content or care. So it is a crap shoot.
