help finding a pattern

I am wanting to do a knitted afghan for a family who lost twins to a drunk driver recently. The symbol they have on the headstone and on their door is of entwined trees. I saw a pattern for "Twin trees" on Mary Maxim, but they only sell the kits, not the pattern alone. Does anyone know where I can get this pattern? I wish to do a memorial afghan of twin trees and maybe add other designs on it like this one that was made as a wedding gift.

Why not just chart your own? You know what image you want as your focal point, find other designs you like then chart them out in an arrangement that suits you. It's just a case of colouring in squares on graph paper and then knitting those stitches while you purl the background.

The closeup image provided of that wedding afghan should give you enough detail to reproduce the twin trees motif used. But alternatiely you could search clipart, cross stitch or filet crochet patterns etc.

Decide what kind of border stitch you want to use (moss stitch is an old favorite or maybe a lace edging) and any other decorative stitch details. Put it all together and you've got yourself a pattern for a unique masterpiece.

Good luck, VP

Hi Terri, I hope these are of some help.

I checked out the link you posted and traced some of the designs used in the wedding afghan. As charts are included in some of those I found you should be able to work out a design that you feel will be suitable.

The first one is a free pattern which includes the instructions for the "leaves in relief" design.

is the design for the "tree of life" which is another freepattern. Although it is a sweater the chart could be used on its own toincorporate the design into an afghan.http://cache.lionbrand.com/patterns/kwe-treeOfLifeSweater.htmlThe final one, yet another free pattern, does not have a chart but doeshave written instructions for a different leaf design.http://cache.lionbrand.com/patterns/kjif-lea.htmlGood luck with making the afghan - it is a very kind and loving thought.
