Hope everyone is okay

I was horrified when I heard about the terrorist bombings in London. I hope everyone and their families and friends are okay. Thank goodness you overslept this morning Ray! And thank you Cher for offering to help people by calling for them. Prayers going out for all the victims and their loved ones. Marie and the cats

Such horrifying news. I don't know anyone in England right now except my RCTY friends and I hope we have by now heard from everyone, and that all are well. I honestly do not understand terrorism. It just sets the victims' minds all the harder to hang on and stand firm... wherever it occurs. It especially seems mindless in Iraq, where Muslims (Iraqis and outsiders) are murdering Iraqis. And this is occuring every single day. Murdering innocent people just does not accomplish ANYthing! I certainly don't approve, but at least I can understand political assassinations. These acts DO change things. I remember reading many years ago about the first terrorist attack I had heard of, in Newsweek, in an Italian train station, where an 11 year old American girl, among others, was murdered. I read the whole long article and it never said WHY ! And I REALLY can't understand why when the perpetrators of these tragedies don't even say who they are! What is the message? What do they think they are accomplishing?

We are so isolated over here, with big ocean barriers, that we do not experience this frequently (though we got two really BIG ones... one internal in Oklahoma). But I think Bush's declaration that he "took it over there to keep it from happening here" is just HORRIBLE.... as though all human lives are not related and equally important, and that he created reasons for even more people to become murdering terrorists to kill OTHER people (not here). It can't be justified in any way. I see no end to all this madness. I hope there are some budding world statesmen out there somewhere who can somehow salvage us all, before the REAL nuclear option is taken up. Okay..... off my rant. Back to knitting. Kira

I am very glad to say that we heard very quickly from all our family and friends who were in London yesterday. Fortunately they all sent each other texts and phoned us to reassure us. Our son works in south west London, and was not very near any of the bombs, although his girlfriend works very near Aldgate East Tube station and could see from the office all the emergency workers. She missed being on the train that was bombed by not very much, but thank God she got to work early because they were leaving early to get ready to go on holiday today. Our DD2 lives in East London, also not very far from the Liverpool Street bomb, and she and her friends decided, very sensibly to just stay in most of the day. Our son in law is working in South London, and was not really affected, except that he heard that there had been a bomb in Brighton where he and our DD1 live (there wasn't a bomb there) so he was very concerned until he got hold of Sarah on the mobile. There just is nothing to say, except that we are so grateful they are all safe and that we pray for a world full of more peace and less of this type of fanaticism. Thank you all for you concern for us in UK, I really feel that in our own way we help to bring a little bit of harmony and international understanding to this sadly divided world. Thank you all for that too Love Christine

I believe the Hippies of the 1960's were hoping for the same thing when they were calling for peace, love, harmony, and understanding! Or as the Beatles once sang... "All we need is love!" Okay, one can hope... right? :o)

Well it's basically cos they can't get their own way....like a little spoilt kid stamping his foot, and creating and acting up...now that child has grown up a bit, and found other ways to try to get their own way, but they've hit the wrong lot this time....they'll not get any satisfaction from this, they'll not see us screaming or running away scared, what they'll see is a wall of people united...cos that's what us UK'ers are real good at...team work, we'll stand as a force to be reckoned with, and we won't retaliate, or hit back, and thatwill drive them crazy...the Heart of Oaks....we will always be...and are proud of it..this will also serve to heal those who have lost loved ones, or whose friends and relatives have been injured....we are united, by a trust bred into us for our brother and that is a mighty and solid line to break. Cheers.....Cher

You know Cher , i don`t think that they are after the sight of people running and shouting , They are after the Economical Ruin , that every one of this act brings with it ,,, Families who loose their providers and other loved ones , the many wounded who will take Long months to heal .... the tourists who ar cautious ,,,,, The many working times of many peoppe who could work normally and now have to Repair things ,,,, They have a far gosl ,, and in this all of you [ and all of us] are game pieces !!! Saw an interesting CNN, program yesternight that suggested that eventually UK , USA and europe will have to spend money and People to watch all over public transport , big malls etc,,, as Israel does ,,,,

I know all you say Mirjam, and no doubt you are right, but they act like little spoilt children, bullies at school, and bullies in adult life, but they ain't met me yet....lol...seriously though, it's the....''do as we say or else'' attitude that really gets me, and I wonder at how they can be intelligent enough to know about bombs and wiring yet don't have the sense to see what they are really doing....But in all the world over there has to be a negative and a positive....one can't survive without the other, shame really, but guess we are all, including them, here to learn something, beats me what they are learning though other than to be complete idiots...my autistic son has more sense than these people..ah well.....we have been spending money to watch things for years now, door bouncers on pubs, a quick frisking to go onto the attractions like the London Eye, and so it is just a step into bigger things.
