I have good luck selling the 2" wide scarves that younger people like. I make mine 60 to 70 inches for our church functions. At 65 or 70 inches you can drape them low.

Funny how beard growing goes... A friend of my 22 yr. old son asked me if our 25 yr. old son was luckier and had a lighter beard than the younger one. I said, "No such luck, his beard is even heavier." You should have heard the groan! Ah well, the razor blade companies make a killing off the two of them and their Dad :)

take care, Linda

You have me very curious about 2 inch wide scarves. What fiber and needles do you use to knit them?

I am currently knitting a bead knitted scarf using fine rayon thread, #6 blue iris seed beads, and 3 mm needles. It's fun to knit, but not so fun if you drop a stitch.

take care, L>I have good luck selling the 2" wide scarves that younger people like.

Thanks Mirjam & Dennis for your ideas, I'll add them to the list of things to make. If I do the same thing for too long I get really bored! It's and extra big fund raising summer fair this year, so I thought I'd get started now. Love & higs Christine

Linda,

I used an eye lash yarn my daughter purchased for 1 dollar a skein. I believe it was ModeODay. I used an 11 us needle and just knit both sides, she loved it. She purchased 10 and gave them to me. I made a smaller one for my granddaughter.

I have seen them in Super Saver knit on a 9 needle and they looked just as good if you buy the colors that youngsters like. They were knit on both sides also. All you would need is 8 stitches. They would go really fast on the Ultimate Sweater Machine or that new round I have seen advertised.

Christine i am very fond of making Little Kids puppets ,, one of the neat ones is ,,, lay your own 4 fingers and darw around them ,,,as width and length ,, use this `pattern and cut it out if possible from felt or tricot [ old sport clothes wil do great] ,, cut when wrong side out ,,,, sew with machine , turn , embroider a face ,,,cut a little threads and make hairs of all styles ,, it is a lovelyhand puppet for the youngest ones .. Ps have you ever knitted finger puppets???? I am also sewing bigger bags as carrier bags ,,, Lately i think Aprons are coming back ,, use a nice cloth , my secret for aprons ,, Double cloth with nice print ,, Cushion covers can also be a hit ,,, and last not least Wrist warmers ,,, i made the first for my daughter ,,, \hats are also going well , Sewn hats But in this country there are many who wear hats as a religious symbol , thus it is easy to sell. ps i also bought in a sale some ready made `barets` , embroidered beads and some applique over them ,, they sold like hot cakes ,,, I have aquired the habit that when i sew myself or knit a big thing i always play with the leftovers thus i have always some `things` for the next bazzaar , mirjam

I agree shaving is daft.

Both Rob (other half) and Jim (our eldest) have very sensitive skin and "scraping" at it always made it sore. It made no difference whether it was wet or electric shaving. We found out recently that with Rob it is Sebborea causing the problems.

Jim just shaves every 4 or 5 days and tries to keep it tidy in between. His face comes up in a red rash, similar to nettle rash, on "scrape" days.

That's why our whiskered son doesn't shave - well, because of psoriasis in his case. It happens on his chin, elbows and in his scalp. So he never shaves his elbows :-)

Thanks for lots ideas Mirjam. The finger puppets sound intriguing, if a little fiddly. Maybe glove puppets (mitten puppets?) would be worth a try. Al the sewn things sound lovely too, but I'm not really big on sewing, including sewing knitted things up, which is why I agree with your emphasis on top down seamless knitting Thanks very much Love & higs Christine
