knitting on the diagonal

Hi: I was wondering if anyone to tell me how to knit a simple stole on the diagonal. I was wanting it to be in a triangle shape with half one color and the other half another color.

Thanks Sandy

Cast on 3, on the next row k1, yo, k1, yo; knit one row. Next row, k2, yo; knit back. Continue increasing two stitches from the end on every right side row, knit all wrong-side rows. When the work is as wide as you want the shawl to be tall (ie, from the nape to the point) change colors on a plain knit row, then start decreasing on right side rows by dint of (k2tog, yo, k2tog, k1) at the end where you've been increasing. When you have 3 stitches left break the yarn and run it thru to secure the stitches. Darn in the ends. Done.

Heh, its just a triangular garter stitch shawl knit end to end instead of nape to bindoff
