the people in power *tell* us that Security is to "protect" us. perhaps a better way to do so would to actively work for more equitable & fair policies that govern all, not by violently punishing those who have little & see how those who have much live, don't you think? do you not think it odd that the US government has lists of millions of US citizens that aren't allowed to get on airplanes, most of them for absolutely NO reason? there are newborn babies on the No Fly list! children who are already rejected by the government to have free rights. don't you think that those second class children will grow up to resent that same government & possibly become terrorists *because* of it? i am not afraid of being killed, by bombs, by auto accident, by a falling tree. we *all* die when our time is over. no matter how long a life you have, it's way too short to live in fear & i will not allow fear to rule my actions.

You are very LUCKY if you live in a place where you don`t have to lock your doors. And i only used this as an analogy , to the matter why `security` measures, are needed. You might not have much worth stealing , but you probably heard what has happened to people coming home and surprising a very determined thief , it can God Forbid end with body harm ... Terorists are worse , they are out to destroy MORE lives as well as Culture and any freedom you have . never mind who you are . To terrorists you and me and every living person , are pawns in their Destruction plan ... Even before 9/11, this happened all over the world , but i would have thought that after 9/11 , it was clear to all , A group of people who have no respect for life at all , Are out there planning how to Destroy every aspect of modern life as we know it !!!! You are right that `better policies` would be nicer, but will they change the minds of those determined to control the world in THeir way ,, NO !!!! you might read a bit about Mr Prime Minister Chamberlain of UK . Many of us grew up with the knowledge of how the Socialist/Liberal moovements developed, and fought for freedom for all .. But somehow we all closed our eyes as to how many victims were sacrified on the way ,, to have those `rights` ,,,, globalism isn`t very fair, the world isn`t very fair, but maybe instread of sitting and complaining the autorities are harming people , we all should take rspomsibilities , each in our corner, and see what we can do ,,, Terrorism is not supported by poor countries who barely can feed their people , but many poor countries Spend more money on weapons than on food and health issues. Our generation of parents , grew up believeing that if all were fed , and educated Peace will come to the world , i Still believe it , but am not as Naive as my parents were ,, i see greed and lust for power in many moovements ,,, this are the subjects to be blamed, This are the subjects we should teach our children.

If a newborn is on such a list , i am sure some lawyer or human rights active group could help them. I have not heard about any Human right Activist making any demonstartions about such a issue. !!!!! How come? this is really a cause for demonstrating and Press writing about this ,,, !!!!!!

I am not aware of the reasons those children are second class , as I am not awre of many actions demonstartions by Human rights activitivists to change that situations if it is so ,,, I agree that such sitations might causes EASIER RECRUITMENT of some of those children into crime or terror, But i don`t agree that this is the main cause for terror. many of my generation grew up or were born in quite horrendous situations, we all became quite normal citizens, maybe a bit cynical. And cautious about some things , like terrorism , and safety.

Good morning [ here] probbaly late afternoon or night at your side LEE , As you write somewhere down here , we live in different circumstances , I am not even aware if you traveled outside Usa , while i live here in the Middle East , where we `endured some wars` , only 2 years ago we sat 6 weeks in shelters while missiles fell all over the north of our coubtry , in fact 1.5 million people sat under the Rain of daily missiles, In the south in Sderot people live 7 years under daily missiles ,,, Thus let`s say that our perceptions about life , might be a bit different. Than i personaly was born in Europe during WW2 , while my parents and family and nation were Murdered , 1/3 of the Jewish people were Murdered in ww2 . Thus I can`t speak like you, `so easy` about death.

I have lost too many family, friends & colleagues to unnatural violent death.. Thus i believe in Preventing it as much as possible. And i can vouch that fear has nothing to do with precaution, if we went on going out and riding buses, sitting in resturants , and living a normal life , when terror got crazy in our streets than it is not fear that rules us.

You see here we differ , i don`t see a government that wants to prevent terror as stealing anything , I felt Unsafe when i entered a big shopping mall in Europe ,and nobody bothered to look into my bag .. This isn1t fear , this prevention. God Forbid, that any one in your circle of life would know the meaning of terror, Maybe if there were Better checkings to those airplanes in 9/11 , those persons couldn`t have taken over those planes. ????? I am very sorry that you think that terror has anything to do with inequality, when i was younger, and less read in this matters i thought so. But let`s take it from that point , Do you think that inequality can be changed, yes and no . much can be changed, and much can`t. We all were brought up to believe that and i still hope it is true, Yet even the places were EQUALITY was the Motto , and the Law , there was no real eqaulity. There is a reason why the Soviet Union fell apart. The `Equality` has victimized many people. it became a Tyranny. You are very lucky if you can have this opinion , i don`t feel the world is me nore that i am the world. `The world`, stood by when my family was destroyed, The world now isn`t as cautious as i am By the Iranian threat to destroy me . I do care about the world , and try to save water, plant trees, not use too much of anything. The world , still uses/wastes too much. There is too much Hatred , towards other people, Xhenophobia / anti- semitism , and Not enough education Against it , and even on nice internet groups , people aren`t ashamed to write hateful things towards `other` people, like me.

I never said there is equality in the world, but when i believed that i saw an inequality , i did something within my abilities to make some [educational] difference [and my ex pupils of that action , now make a difference in the lives of other people] . You gave plenty of good points here. And real education and self education may be the best of them. Unfortunately majority of people , as it seems to me, seldom go out of their way to look for diverse sources of information except their mass media even if they have access to it (and many actually don't, remember that). I may say so because I lived in a few countries. Sometimes it even never crosses their mind... Speaking of that, security in Israel and here (US) seem to me to be very different. When my daughter goes on the plane to visit her relatives in Israel I feel great watching Israeli security doing their job. Not so when I'm or my relatives are traveling in the US.

Thank you Yulia !!! The reality of living with a situation, is always different than having general `Wonderful ideal` thoughts about, how things should be. I am not dismissinng Lee`s hopes and wishes , i just know that in day to day life, we have to compromise a bit. for REAL living. Yes Yulia i know that in some of the countries /places were you lived, information and or `other ideas`, were impossible to get. I hear many stories by people who camne from there , listen , think about it and still don`t know enough to talk about it, i can talk only about the things i know about, either bt living through it or by very thorough study .

Lee yesterday we drove to an opening of a new Exhibition , in Ein Harod , And as we passes the Mount of Megiddo , i thought about your very serious letters. thus i decided to tell you a little about Megido , Now you can visit here and see remnants of the Old Israelite time of a Grain Silo, houses , gates etc,, and there is the Water Tunnel , A tunnel that was dug to reach the water outside the walls of the city and also to get out of the city hidden from any prying eyes ,,,

It was the Scene of the last fight [ in WW2 where Horses were used .... and there are many more historical stories around this beautiful mound that sits at the gates to the valley of Yizrael , facing Mount Tabor ,,, mirjam
