Hold On Gwen ,,, knitting was so `out ` in Israel that people seeing me knit would say "we didn`t there are still people knitting !!!!" now it is happening everywhere ,,,,,,, It takes time for this trends to swim the oceans ,,,, mirjam

Hi Mirjam dear, good morning from Sweden!

Sorry, I have to ask: what do you mean with FFcrochet? Fast crochet? :-) Anyway, I am attending classes with the ONLY ONE textile consulent with crochet specialization in Sweden and I LOVE it. She got her textile arts degree with a dissertation on traditional crochet in Sweden and she is working VERY hard with spreading this kind of handwork in Sweden. She explained that crochet has been seen in many many years as a secondarian kind of craft, first here being weaving and second knitting. We have also to blame so called women magazines in paste decades for publishing very ugly patterns made with big crocheting cotton thread (I have seen them: they are UGLY, believe me). She designes new items with inspiration from traditional Swedish clothes and the result is stunning. You can see here a wristwarmer made by me with a pattern from her book:

Yes Mirjam, the teacher showed us this book, lovely to know that it has been translated into English, I'll check Amazon for it. I wondered many times about FFcrochet, but never tried it...

I would love to, but I don't have the address, could you please give me the URL? I had it once, but had PC problems and lost it :-(

Hi Pamjam!

I don't know if prejudice is the right word, but here crochet is not considered something as beautiful and interesting as, let's say, weaving or knitting.

It seems like a lot more people crochet around here rather than knit. Knitting is considered an "old fashioned" thing to do. Lol. I personally have been crocheting for about 2 weeks and I'm having a great time. It's fun and quick and colorful. My knitting is getting jealous! Pamjam
