Re: My Current Skill Levels

Hi Padishar! Well, in my case it goes like this:

Knitting: Well, decide yourself. I can knit the pieces of vests, but I must re-write the pattern down every time to understand exactly what I have to do and how many times.

Needlepoint: Decide yourself...but I'd say I am a beginner. Why? Because I can not stitch if the canvas is blanco...aka empty. I mean if the canvas is pre-printed, I can handle it. But if there is nothing to guide me...I am lost.

Pirjo, many really good knitters write out the pattern on index cards before starting a project. one row per card & punch a hole in an upper corner to tie them together in a set. then you flip the cards for each row to the next. it makes it much easier to keep track of where you are in the pattern.

use permanent markers to sketch the outline of the design on the canvas. lee

Hi! Thanks for that stitching tip...Maybe I am brave enough to try it some day.

And then to that knitting issue...Nice to know that there are others like me. I thought I am just one stupid, mathematically challenged knitter who can not understand repeatings...or something like that. And now I find out I am completely normal. The thing you said...that the writing helps you to keep track...or something like that...it is true. At least it is exactly like that for me. Best: Pirjo
