OT: I'm BACK! (Noreen) (boring techie story)

Long story short: After getting a Window's update @ 7:39am Friday morning.... when restarting, I got the dreaded blue screen. So, went to safemode so as to restore to previous setting.... and it just wouldn't 'go'. So, another restart, and again in safemode, and poof, tried to restore to a previous restore point, and zilch. Next, it LOST ALL my previous restore points. A bios test showed some errors. Being 'savvy', I monkeyed around but could not fix... Don finally made me call Dell on Sunday, which resulted in their sending me all new OpSys. CD's, which arrived Tuesday. Today was reinstall, and I'm now back! YAY! Hugs, Noreen

Noreen, I couldn't resist this haiku which I found a couple of years ago: Windows NT crashed. I am the Blue Screen of Death No one hears your screams.

And a few more haikus:

Yesterday it worked,

Today it is not working.

Windows is like that.

To have no errors

would be life without meaning,

no struggle, no joy.

A file that big?

It might be very useful but now it's gone

No keyboard present,

Hit F1 to continue.

Zen engineering?

Hal, open the file.

Hal, open the damn file, Hal.

Open the . please Hal!

A crash reduces

your expensive computer

to a simple stone.

Aborted effort:

Save and close all that you have.

You ask way too much.

First snow, then silence.

This thousand dollar screen dies

so beautifully.

Chaos reigns within.

Reflect, repent and reboot

Order shall return

Three things are certain

Death, taxes and lost data

Guess which has occurred?

The code was willing

It considered your request

But the chips were weak

Printer not ready,

Could be a fatal error.

Have a pen handy?
