OT: Spring etc.

Hi All!

I wanted to pop in and say hello and happy holidays to everyone. It's my spring break and I am trying to catch up on all kinds of things that got behind while I was sick. My oldest son is also on break and he & I have been planting red impatients all morning. We love watching the hummingbirds in the summer when they come to them.

We started basil, zinnias & marigold seeds, and they are germinating. Soon we'll be able to put them in their permenant home. We may put the sunflower seeds and tomato seedlings in the ground later today. It's so beautiful and warm out now, but in a couple of weeks, it's going to be too hot and muggy to do anything outside.

I've been working on a summer sweater using my CE Believe yarn and new #7 circular needles. I don't know why I haven't tried circs for flatwork before. It makes transporting my project much easier. No needle pokes in the armpits anymore.

Hope everyone is doing fine

Hi Hesira,

I had to look back to see where you live as I knew it couldn't be around my area in NY. It's still to cold to think about putting out the tender plants. I do have daffodils open which is so nice to see for Easter and the trees are just beginning to bud so spring is in the air.

Hugs,

Nora just think of what it is like when it does come. On our first visit to the USA we were in Florida in the middle of March and gradually headed north and then west and literally had spring for three months and I have never seen anything like it. I keep telling every one here that everyone should be able to experience at least one spring in the eastern states of the USA. I cherish the memories and have four calendar pages of dogwoods etc attached to the wall at the back of my computer to keep reminding me. God Bless Gwen

Hi Pamjam,

We haven't had any rain in over a week, then it wasn't enough to put in a thimble. It keeps going south and east of us. We are having a lot of brush fires as it's been so dry around here and the lack of snow melt hasn't helped at all.

Gwen, I bet it was lovely going from state to state and seeing their spring advance. I know I watched part of the Masters Golf Tourament just to see the lovely flowers in bloom in Georgia. I had four daffodils in bloom, but a squirrel decided I only needed three and snipped on off and left it by the back steps. I hate to think what they are going to do with my red tulips and roses this year.

Hugs,

Nora

Nora, I love the look of squirrels but they are a pest - some folk I knew in Minnesota put a tiny electric fence around their garden - only a few inches high and they said that stopped their theiving habits !

Yes following the spring was wonderful - one day I will go back when it is spring.

To day I got an e mail from a very good friend in Potomac who said she was looking at the dogwoods as she typed - her garden is something to behold - If anyone has a spare prayer this lady could do with some as she has just had surgery for breast cancer.

Hop you tulips etc are left for you to enjoy God Bless Gwen

Hi Gwen,

I'll be praying for your friend. If it doesn't warm up, the squirrels will definitely get the tulips. Yesterday we also saw our little chipmunk for the first time this year so that made for a pleasant surprise. That little critter I can take, but not the squirrels when they want my flowers.

Hugs,

Nora
