Popping in to say hello!

Sunday noon here, snow at the mountains, squals with hail. Still working on my kitchen, just now: a curtain/just a "top" over the window, I like to see the wood! The visitors who "peep" through my kitchenwindows are very welcome! These two guested me about a week ago (Not very good photo! I used my cell phone):

finally: Yesterday evening I finished the knitted cardigan (just the knitting, I have to put it together) which I have "sort of worked on" this autumn.... between "kitchen-fixing tasks".(Well, I lack words, but I'm sure you see what I mean! ;-)When I have finish it, I'll take a picture, not because it is special in any way, but to MARK that I have done it! LOL!

I read a bit, very occationally here, but I haven't had time to sit down, enjoy talking with you all! I look forward to "better times", I miss you! I see thare are new "faces" here, welcome!!

...and I hope you all are well! Sunday-hug from

Hei Amber!

In a week I'LL visit Copenhagen ;-) My niece's little son will be bapticed, and my niece and her husband will take the oportunity to show the family how they live and study in Denmark! Looking forward to it, ...."it's good to be a Norwegian in Denmark" (A Danish slogan to get even more Norvegians to visit Denmark.. as if it's nessesary to remind us, we LOVE Denmark!! LOL) Aud ;-)

Hi Aud , We have rain here today but snow in the mountains. Last week we got a "pineapple express". That is a warm rain storm from Hawaii. This time I was in Hawaii when they got the downpour and then flew home to find it had made its way here. The problem is that warm rain storms like that this time of year melt the snow in the mountains and cause flooding from the rivers that start in the mountains. Mount Rainier had so much damage from the storm that the national park there had to close as the bridges on roads and trails were washed out. Now with the snow many repairs on trails may wait for spring. Our house is not near any of the flooding rivers so we are OK here.

When you get the kitchen finished we will need to see pictures. It sounds like you are making good progress. Judy

Yes, I will take pictures to show you!

BUT it is a very small kitchen, the house was built in the sixties, and people still got reasonable loan from the "gouvernment's bank", which was founded after WW2 to build up the country. There were lots of restrictions on how big the house could be, standard and so on. When people wished bigger sitting rooms, the kitchens were smaller, and in the sixties I think most of the houses had those small kitchens.

Still it has been a JOB!! To get off all wallcoverings, to get the walls ready for new painting, nessesary changes in the electric system. Plummer work, new cupboards all over, set up in a VERRRRY accurate way, (Yes he is very accurate, my SIL). Not to forget, driving out to buy a little of this an a little of that... AND mostly all things we waited for has been a bit delayed. Still we wait for things which are ment to come tomorrow, but we will see....!!!

My challenge has been to construct a kitchen which functions and have place for my kitchen things. It is not very spectacular, but I fell it will function well

AND my challenge NOW,is to get a picture to show you (;-))!! Will I get the nessesary DISTANCE in that narrow room to be able to take a picture? LOL?

Maybe you shall have to peek in the window with your camera like your visitors from the woods. LOL I am sure you will be happy to have the full use of your kitchen again

- hope you are happy with the improvements. Houses are a project - there is always something that needs doing. Judy

Hi Aud, you have a wonderful view out of your kitchen window. I can see why you didn't want it covered by a curtain. What you have at the top is what we call a valance, I think. I'm sure you will be happy to have the kitchen remodeling done and more time for knitting and visiting here. I've been wondering how you have been managing meals all this time.

Haha! You are a genius. Mirjam, isn't it funny? I'm sure it is because you know Dutch! As I said, when I went to Amsterdam, I was told to speak a Norwegian dialect very slowly, then everybody would understand me! But I am sorry to say, no one THERE spoke THAT dialect, so I didn't understand too much! LOL! But I understood when I read in newspapers! AUD ;-)

LOL I'm afraid that people in Amsterdam are more attuned to English nowadays - in the Frisian part of the country (up north next to the German border - a short hop from Denmark) they are more likely to understand the Scandinavian dialects though :-)

Hi Jan, thank you for the right word! ;-))) My meals... well, I packed the kitchen in boxes and ålaced them under the dining table (most of them). On the top I had some things in daily use, and the caffe maker! I meant to have my microwave owen there to, to make some dinner-like meals, but it colapsed, didn't manage to be moved! LOL! After some days I had found a new one, but I had decided to put it IN a cupboard, so I had to find a small one. (I don't use it too much). We are lucky to have a small restaurant not far from here, so we could eat there or take away. But longed for something homemade after few days! LOL! AUD ;-)

Aud i first realized i could understand some of the UNO people who would sit in coffee shops in Nahariya , years ago. Than i saw that i understood some of the Films , than one day i got a book from a friend who told me it was Dutch, it wasn`t ,,, but i got to understand it ,,, that way i found out the big secret when i READ it aloud i know what is meant ,,,, I still think it is a little wonder ,,,, But in the salad of my languages ,, i speak/understand some which i can`t write , i can write one or two but can`t speak [properly] etc,,,, all kinds of combinations ...And to top it all i have learned as librarian to transliterate from languages i barely can read... and my keyboard has Latin as well as Hebrew letters and at times the Changing happens on it`s own and one gets ????????strange words .. mirjam
