OT: Today is the big day

Shortly I will be leaving for Palatka to drop off DD in college and then here again to finish packing. I start orientation in the morning at the new hospital - new to me, that is. I don't think the word butterflies can express the feeling I have. Nothing about the job concerns me; it is more the moving into a residential hotel for 3 months. I have never been in Largo or further south than Busch Gardens on the Tampa side of the state. Now, I am really looking forward to this, but having never lived in this area lets me be a bit "chicken".

Two good pieces of news: I was looking around for stuff in my house and found a plastic bag sitting in a place where I had not seen it before. I found enough money to get me through until the first pay check. I was totally surprised and delighted.

The other is that when I called the new hospital, I found that I do not need to purchase new scrubs as they have an open dress code. The other two hospitals in their family, also HCA, have very strict color code for dress code. This saves me lots of money and helps me get off to a good start.

Now if I can just use my spare time effectively and knit a lot. I do have lots to do along that line. The place I am going to is a residential hotel, similar to one I stayed in once upon a time in Phoenix. I hope it is not as noisy...I will be working nights and sleep during the day will be a priority for me.

Hope all goes well for you in your new job. Hopefully others will be considerate of those of you who need to sleep during the day and work at night. By the way, I received your two beautifully made squares yesterday - Thanks. I will let Nora know. Judy

I am starting my third day here in Largo. The orientation is good, but repetitive for the most part. At least they are not treating us as if we were new grads. I like my room, but I miss my bed, my house and my animals. I can just hope they are doing okay. Thanks to all for the good wishes. I know that makes it all easier to accomplish. I am not worried about doing the work, but just getting to be able to adjust to working the night shift, and having enough money to pay for the duplicate life. No income for three weeks is taking a big dip into savings. And I do not get paid until a week from Friday. We'll just have to see what happens.

Knitting is going slow as I am sleeping a lot. I have done a bit of shopping, but that was mostly to get me back online. My previous wireless card did not work, so a new one had to be gotten. I did bring enough with me to keep me busy, so that works for me.
