The elusive yarn I want

Well, I went ahead and ordered 5 skeins of Paton's Dark Sage Shetland Chunky. It is far too light to match or blend with the color I already have. As I indicated to another member, the color closest that I have found is dark forest green or pine from Lion Brand's Woolease. Now comes the question. Does anyone have experience with blending two such different yarns. I would be using double strands of the Woolease to make it chunky. The biggest difference I can see is that the Red Heart Shetland Chunky is 75/25 acrylic/wool while the Woolease is 80/20. The feel of it and drape of it is nearly the same. Before I jump in and do something irreparable I will continue for a while to try to find a real match. Woe is me!

Again what I seek is a probably Canadian yarn, made by Red Heart, but no longer being made. The name is Shetland Chunky and the color is Heather Forest, a deep green. I hate being redundant, but this is a project at least 3/4 finished with a pattern that does not lend itself to having a different color added anywhere. My dil did not want stripes and after the amount I have finished, I am reluctant to rip.

As always, any help is greatly appreciated!

Susan, I thought for sure that Shetland Chunky was still being made. However, that being said, you would probably never find the same dye lot again. When I have had tgo use two almost-the-same colours, I work two rows in one colour, and two in the other, so that it looks like shading. Let us know how it works out.
