Please make these sleeves done !

I am to a very uninteresting point in these two Chanel jackets. I am making 4 sleeves at a time on size 2 needles. I have one more increase to go and no room left on these long needles but will force them on. The interest is the yarn --Sisik- so in stockinette stitch and this is the most boring thing I have done in a long long long time ! I have to do 15 inches or more before I can shape the top. Yikes. I have been working on these jackets since January so holy smokes got to get them done sooner rather than later. I work on them every evening with hubby which he is getting sick of I can tell. And if we watch a movie. I do not watch other tv much. Amazing . Got to get it done for daughter's May birthday . Thought I started in ridiculous plenty of time !

Hi,

Yes, you are at the borning part of the sleeves. I give you lots of credit for doing four at one time, that's one thing I never did, one at a time for me. Keep us posted.

Hugs,

Nora

Oh you poor dear! It's the second sleeve that is usually the killer. It's a good thing you aren't making another set. Think of how much you will enjoy shaping the top - all those decreases.

I've been trying to think of a good sweater project for myself, and you've put me in mind of a pattern though. Dora

Oh, you are a brave soul. I don't do stockinette stitch on little needles for sweaters any more. Years ago I made my sister a sweater like Princess Diana's black sheep sweater; red sweater with white sheep on the front with one black sheep...on size 0 needles for the ribbing and collar and size 2 for everything else. This is the sweater that made me decide never to do stockinette stitch only on tiny needles, and it also convinced me that intarsia is *way* overrated; I had so many damn bobbins on that sweater I couldn't keep them separated. Give me a complicated cable or lace pattern any day, and I'm a happy girl :-)

Oh, I feel your pain and I haven't even started my 2mm-needles sweater project. I ordered 6 hanks of Bendigo Woolen Mills 5-ply cabled wool last month. The siren call is strong, but I've got resale stuff to finish before I can even start swatching...

Cherry-red gansey, here I come (in about three years knitting time).

I KNOW how you feel... and I recognise your DH's reactions!LOL! I'm sorry I don't have anything comforting to say; But when you are ready, you will love them, and you have a reason to feel PROUD!! Not much comfort??? After that you can make potholders for a long time! THAT's a comfort! AUD ;-))

hahahaha Aud! It will be okay. I am 7 inches into it and they need to be 15 inches before I do the arm top ! The nice part about them is they are mindless now that the increases are done and down to knitting and measuring once in a while. Good for movie viewing etc .! I am embarassed to say I have been knitting during movies since I started this project and some of them have had subtitles so have to look over often !

Dora, this one came out of Jean Frost Jackets. All of them tailored and very high end looking in my humble opinion. They could be used for office use for work they are so good. barbie

Hi Wooly, These two jackets take 8 skeins each of Dale of Norway Sisik, a yarn I like pretty well by the way, and thus 16 skeins total. I do so hope I have enough to finish these !!!

I see your point - I've never even tried to do a sweater on needles that small (though I've just finished a small bag on size 000s). I found a knock-off t-shirt of that "black sheep" design at a thrift shop. It's cute, but I doubt I'd ever knit it. If I did, I'd probably redesign it so the sheep were very close together and carry the yarn. Hmm. Could probably do it in Fair Isle, with intarsia for the one sheep.

I love cable work as well. Just finished an intricate stitched oiled wool vest albeit it problems with the buttonholes--see new post. I do not like intarsia knitting either. I guess it is just a personal preference. It will be a long time coming after these two jackets before I do stockinette work again. It is very uninteresting although I am happy with how the yarn shows with it.The star in this case being the yarn and not the stitch. I have to give good kudos to Jean Frost on her instructions in this book ( Jean Frost Jackets) because they are clear as a bell~~ding!!!
