problems weaving chenille

hi everyone

at our weaving mill we seem to have a problem weaving chenille yarns.

The fabric is woven on a Dornier loom. All chenille yarns come from the same dye lot.

4 prewinders are used for the chenille yarn and work alternately.

The problem seems to be that the inserted chenille yarn seems to be less twisted on the right side of the loom and more twisted on the left side, with a fairly clear border situated in the middle of the fabric. This gives the right hand side another look than the left hand side. The fabric is a plain chenille fabric.

This seems to be a known problem, but the yarn supplier has no clue to resolve it.

Anybody heard of this before ?

Probably has something to do with the way the shuttles are flipped and/or how the stuff was wound off the cones and onto the bobbins.

Alan, I would ask this question of a professional mill worker, from another mill.

Have you worked before with chenille and did you have problems at that time. Different tensions in the warp, the set of the warp, and the way the chenille twists when it is shot through the shed. It may have extra twist in the yarn by the time it passes through the shed on the one side from the other side. Onwinding from an industrial quil it is like spinning of a spindle.....Play detective and watch what is happening while the weaving is going on. Asking another mill expert is your best bet.

Hi Alan, sounds to me as if it has a way of twisting, either enroute from the cone to the bobbin or actually in the bobbin, is this a quill type bobbin or something else?
