Weaving Newsgroup?

Hi,

Is there a newsgroup where I could go for information about weaving? I just recently got a table loom and I'm interested in learning from/hanging out with people having more experience, which at this point would be just about every one. :-)

Thanks, Neill

There are plenty of weaving groups on Yahoo.

Reply to the list as I do not publish an email address to USENET. This practice has cut my spam by more than 95%. Of course, I did have to abandon a perfectly good email account...

As far as I know there is no specific weavers group. The only handweavers I'm aware of are in this group. You might check with Yahoo clubs. They may have a weavers club, but I couldn't be sure. I'm a master weaver and have taught weaving in certain weaving guilds, however I am not taking students at this time. I hope you find what you are looking for.

I see it is said before, that there are alot of weaving groups on yahoo, I also run one, but for UK weavers spinners and dyers, nothing wrong with other countries, it's just that we need to be able to pass info to each other about our local guilds and weaving days etc, and there are a million and one other groups that cover all countries.

This said.....I am more than willing as are others on here to help you, step by step if need be to setup and use your loom.

Is it a fourshaft table loom? Tell us what you need to know, and we'll all help you.... If you've not used one before the task seems daunting, but it isn't really and I do have step by step pics to help you along. A really good book to get hold of is called The Fourshaft Table Loom by Anne Field, it s out of print, but sometimes is offered on Amazon and Ebay. This book shows you detailed pictures of how to set up the loom how to work out a warp, etc etc...

Keep us posted of how you get on, Cheers....Cher
