Re: Lammy's First Sweater

Thank you so much for sharing the pictures, Allaya. Lammy is a beautiful child! And the sweater fits her wonderfully! The colors are "her." What pattern did you use for the sweater, or did you make it up? Either way, it was a success!

Hi Janise!

This was an "original" pattern. It's a pretty basic pattern with almost no shaping. LOL . Using two strands at once, I worked the sweater in a double moss stitch. My gauge was about 3.5 sts/inch. For Lammy, I made the sweater about 14" wide, and I think about 15" long, and the sleeves 8" long, which was a little long, since I had to roll up the sleeves about an inch when she wears it.

I used 3 buttons, and instead of making button holes, I did it toggle syle and crocheted a chain to loop around the buttons.

So as you can see, it's not very "original" at all, but pretty easy. :) I just wanted to draw attention to the yarn and not the sweater. Thanks for all your compliments!

Too cute! (Sweater and Lammy!). Thanks for the toggle idea too; the jacket I'm working on doesn't have any closures in the pattern and I've been fretting about how to do it.

Allaya!

Lammy is just DARLING (!!), and I love the sweater. It's playful and sweet -- just as she looks to be.

Your idea of two strands at once is great! I will hafta try that sometime -- it made a lovely effect with the colors. I wonder if working with three strands is frustrating..... I imagine I might drop one here and there and make "extra loops" on my work that weren't supposed to be there! LOL

Thanks for sharing! Eve :o)
