Thanx Stella, well the socks only take a day to make the yarn, wash and set the ply overnight near a boiler or something warm, then ball it up and knit a pair of socks the next day well takes me two days to make the socks, so about three days in all start to finish. The pic of the new green pair on the needles just has a toe and one more sock to finish and I'll add them to the photo's next..

Things are not good with Gail Cher. We are both in our early 50s. I don't want to sound selfish but, it does not seem fair. Gail can barely walk from the bedroom to the kitchen or living room. The nerves in her legs are getting worse.

And I am stable, that is great. No change in over a year.

The doctors are amazed that we both have a severe nervous system disorder. The way the ball bounces.

It gets tiring trying to make lemon-aide all the time :) .

Hugs & God bless, Dennis & Gail

I am so sorry to read about your health problems! Chances are that someone has already thought of this, but I thought I'd ask anyway... since you both have a severe nervous system disorder, has anyone (doctors) investigated if it might possibly be something that links both of you? I'm definitely no expert or anything, but I remember reading things where some people have found out that entire families have the same sort of health problem, and it turned out to be something in their home that caused it all. Just thought I'd toss that out there... like I said, since you both have the same thing, chances are that someone has already thought of investigating this anyway.

Isn't that the truth!!

*hugs to you both* Gemini

On Sat, 22 Apr 2006 07:31:23 GMT, "spinninglilac" spewed forth :

I seem to be a rehab facility for old equipment. Right now I've got a decrepit 4/4 floor loom apart (on hte floor, of course). I have the reed coated with naval jelly in hopes it'll be salvageable. I'm slowly scraping the barn grime from the loom pieces, reaming out the bolt holes, backfilling with wood putty to redrill, yadda yadda. She looks like a good loom and I got her for the price of the gas to drive out to retrieve her. With luck I can rehome the thing in a few months and she'll be back at it...

The CSM was a bit of an investment but considering the usual selling prices on Ebay I got a really good deal. Unfortunately people in this area of the country has little use for wool socks, or even cotton/wool socks so I'm having a hard time recouping my investment.

When I try to hurry it can take me two hours to crank a pair of socks. I have to retrieve dropped stitches, back out heels and toes, and generally cuss a blue streak. If, however, I *take my time* I can crank one pair in about 45 mins. Funny how that works :D Grafting the toes takes another 10 minutes per sock so I get a pair in about an hour *when I take my time*.

I've decided I'm going to crank as much of the commercial sock yarn in my stash as possible during the next few days, then stash the socks and put them up on Ebay when "winter" arrives in the more northerly parts of the country. And if they don't sell I can wear them myself or give them as gifts :D

+++++++++++++

Reply to the list as I do not publish an email address to USENET. This practice has cut my spam by more than 95%. Of course, I did have to abandon a perfectly good email account...

hi Dennis and Gail, sorry to hear about this prob, and I've just read Gemini's response, and know that we have experienced this sort of thing over here, houses built too near some kind of area that is bad for health and the nervous system as a whole.

No it isn't easy Dennis, and it always seems so unfair, especially as you are both relatively young, and should now be enjoying this time of your life, together.

It may be worth investigating the area in which you live and see if there are any new power plants in your area, or if something is underground, what about other people in your area....any of them in the same sort of situation, as if this was something like that, it would definately be more than just the two of you, unless you are not in a region with alot of neighbours of course.

Sometimes the nervous system can errupt all by itself from no apparent reason, have they investigated when it started for both of you etc just to see if there is a cycle pattern to it.. what was happening around you when it started...worth a thought.

In the mean time, know that you have my thoughts and prayers

Yes Gemini,

We have been to Loyola University in Chicago and the May Clinic in Rochester, MN. Just bad luck. They are two completely different nervous system disorders. As is said Gail's is her legs and mine is my brain stem and spinal cord.

But I will keep on making the lemon-aide!!!!1

Cher thanks a ton.

One of greatest joy the last three years is shairing with my friends here in rcty. I hope you read my reply to Gemini, it explains a lot.

We have thought about the last places we lived which has only be 2 other and none of the neighbors or sick. We have not checked basements or anything like that.

Hey thinks for the ideas.

Hi Dennis, yes I did see your reply to Gemini,

When things go wrong in health issues it is often attributed to the fact that we are not environmental friendly and our systems rebel against it all.

The amount of rubbish we inhale everyday from all sorts of things is enough to make us ill alone, and thats not including secondary smoking from others, lead from old car exhausts factory polutions etc etc

and in the meantime we are trying to survive in and on our planet.

you just take care and keep on plodding on
