Socks are Started!

Yesterday when I got home from work my first order of sock supplies was waiting for me. It was so hard to feed the family before I sat down to knit, but I did it!

I now have about 1/3 of a spiral rib sock finished - this one is wool-ease yarn on size 4 11-inch circulars for now, and I'll change to DPNs for the decreases. I chose this method first because I've done hats this way in the past.

Yes, I'm already printing patterns and planning for socks with a heel soon, but for today I'm really enjoying this one. It goes much more quickly than I expected.

*laugh* I've had this problem. I usually stand in the kitchen, waiting to stir things and working on a project at the same time. Then the food is done, I take two bites off my plate and excuse myself before the "Mom, she's LOOKING at ME!" starts. I've spent some family meal times sitting on the edge of my bed, away from the noise, with yarn and hook and instructions and high hopes. I luckily have a very indulgent husband who doesn't mind referreeing the family meals and herding kids into the bathtub.
