somewhat stupid question

I've been wanting to try colorwork and felting, and this project combines the two AND works for nice little presents and hostess gifts type things:

question is: when I follow the chart, do I knit every row (this ison circular needles, so it will create a stockinette stich even if Iknit every row, right?) And do I understand correctly that each row isonly one row, or once around the needles? If this is thereforestockinette, is the only reason that it doesn't curl because it is felted?I'm trying to get beyond my fear of charts.madelaine

Correct

And do I understand correctly that each row is

Right, use a marker at the beginning of the round

If this is therefore

No, that is not the only reason that it doesn't curl. Stocking stitch can be blocked not to curl.

You must be using different yarn from anything I've ever used. Blocking may slow it down a little, but in my experience, flat stockinette, even in wool, would have to be blocked within an inch of its life and maybe beyond to stop it from curling.

However, being knitted in the round will stop it from curling because there are no sides to curl, and felting it will stop it because it becomes a different fabric once it's felted.

How do you block wool? I pin the garment piece flat, mist it with water, let dry. I don't ever have a problem with edges curling when blocking in this manner. What I am missing or doing wrong? DA

lol I don't knit but I do crochet. When I block I don't mist it with water. I soak the piece in water and then pin it up on cork board. Note: I hardly ever use pure natural fibers.

Nothing... you're probably doing it more right than I do. :-)
